WELCOME TO UCSD DINING HALLS!

One privilege of being a UCSD student is that there are multiple dining options on campus! I will be introducing all 11 dining halls with a brief explanation about the quality of food, location, and my favorite dishes!

PRO TIP!

Tapingo

If you don't have time to dine inside of the dining halls, install the "Tapingo" app! UCSD has a special system where they will charge every student with "dining dollars" instead of "swipes". These dining dollars can be purchased at the beginning of the school year as a part of your dining plan. If you ever need more dining dollars, you can buy some off your friends or on the "UCSD Free and For Sale 2.0" page on Facebook! This type of dining system allows for the Tapingo app to be in use! Tapingo allows for you to order your food online as a to-go option, and then charging your student account in dining dollars. It will notify you when your order is getting ready and when it is ready to pick up! One downside to this app is that the food options are limited and the portion size may be smaller than when it is ordered in person.

ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Ellen Lim and I am a UCSD undergraduate student currently living in the Sixth College Apartments. Growing up in Los Angeles, I was familiarized to all kinds of foods and ethnicities. Though I am not a food expert who enjoys to eat caviar or truffles, I know when a dish is good or special, especially since the food options are so diverse in LA. However, I am also the type of person who will eat everything without complaint, only because I just LOVE to eat. Therefore, I came into UCSD both excited and worried about the food served in the dining halls. I didn't know what to expect because unlike UCLA, UCSD doesn't have a reputation for serving good dining hall food. I came in thinking that I would only eat to survive, but I was pleasantly surprised by the dining options served in UCSD. Though none of these dining options are good enough to be cooked by a 5 star chef, they are far from being terrible! The type of variety served in UCSD isn't very common in other universities, so I wanted to share my opinions to those who were curious about UCSD dining hall foods!
P.S. Some of my opinions may be affected by the fact that I am a Sixth College student! *Sixth College Pride!!!*
